We encourage pilots to take our packaged service as it helps support the flight park's long term success and gives all your flying needs within a fixed budget.

However, we understand many of you will want to use it on a per flight basis.

Aerotow.com is a club dedicated to providing the best hang-gliding adventures for it's members.

All package deals include club membership, which is also available separately at 30 € and is required for all pilots. What is not included in any package is the cost of getting to the Flight Park in Avila, any food you eat or insurance you will need.

Package notes

Aerotow.com is not a holiday company and we do not have huge resources. The apartments are offered to club members as a way of subsidising the towing. Without the income from these it would be impossible to operate the Flight Park. We will endeavour to provide a high level of service but do not expect the same level of service you could find in a hotel. Please treat the apartments with respect and help us to continue the adventure in 2004.


Bunk house

The large room upstairs with its own balcony. Clean, cheap and cheerful.

Sleeps 7 and 2. Please bring your own sleeping bags and towels as these are not provided.


Camping

The Flight Park offers basic camping with access to bathrooms. It is not up to the standard of a commercial campsite, but is well suited to the avid flyer who likes to stay where the action is.

You’ll be able to pitch your tent close to the hangar where you leave your glider rigged overnight and be woken up by the sound of those taking early morning flights.

For obvious reasons no fires will be allowed on the airfield though there is a brick barbeque available for your use.

The 7-day camping package will include 12 aerotow flights. Additional nights may be available at 10 € per night.
 

Onsite apartments (sleeps two)

Each apartment has two single beds, a bathroom and a small kitchenette. Bed linen is provided for the week but you’ ll need to bring your own towels.

The apartments are separated from the hangars by a nice grass lawn, which is great for relaxing on.

The 7-day apartment package includes 12 aerotow flights. An additional 12 flights can be purchased for 250 € if two pilots are sharing the apartment. Additional nights are available at 30 € per night.

The number of apartments are limited so advance booking is a must.

Offsite apartments (sleeps four)

The apartments are located in a small village approximately 5km from the Flight Park on a hill over looking the valley.

The apartments have two bedrooms, kitchen, bathroom and lounge with satellite TV and underground parking for one car. Additional on street parking is available around the village. Bed linen is provided for the week but you’ll need to bring your own towels.

The 7-day apartment package is based on two pilots sharing. It includes 24 aerotow flights. An additional 12 flights can be purchased for 250 € if more than two pilots are sharing the apartment. No more than four people can occupy the apartments, with two in each bedroom.

The package price allows for two pilots and two partners. Prices for one pilot and up to three family members are available on request. Additional nights may not be available under this package. Please ask at the time of booking.

The number of apartments are limited so advance booking is a must.

Please remember that you will need to have your own transportation as we cannot provide a reliable taxi service.


Refunds

What if the weather is bad or you are unable to fly? We can not refund accommodation charges but we will refund any unused tow credits if it is clear that you could not of used them during your stay. You can if you choose to, carry unused tow credits forward for use on your next visit.


Other offerings

There are number of other services in additions to the packages.


Additional tows

If you exhaust the number of tows that come with your package you can choose to take additional tows. An individual tow will be charged at 25 € but pilots on a package deal can purchase them in blocks:

What constitutes a tow? Once you are in the air you have been towed! But we realise that occasionally things will not go as planned. If you have a line, or tug-end weak link break below 250m, that we do not think was not caused by bad piloting on your part, you will be credited with another tow. We’ ll be as fair as we can.


Retrieve service

We will endeavour to provide a retrieve service to pilots for their gliders if required. This will be subject to the following conditions:
  • That a retrieve driver and vehicle is available on the day capable of carrying the number of gliders required safely. We will not be cramming them in beyond the legal limits.
  • You have access to a telephone and are able to notify us of your exact location.
  • Costs will incurred per glider and are based on a simple scale (i.e. each pilot will be charged this amount for their glider):

  • All pilots involved in flying tasks that take them more than 20km from the Flight Park will be encouraged to fly within the same general area, as agreed at the daily morning briefing.
  • Pilots will be encouraged to fly closed circuit tasks and return to the Flight Park. Open distance retrieves will only be provided under extra special arrangement.
  • We can not guarantee at what time the retrieve will arrive. We’ ll try not to take too long but you may have to wait a while. Make sure you have plenty of water with you.
  • Pilots do not have to use our retrieve services for their gliders and are always free to organise their own retrieves amongst themselves.
  • Gliders are transported at their owner’s risk. Aerotow.com will not be responsible for any damage caused during transit, though we will try our hardest to ensure that gliders are safe.
     

Airport collections

Completing an airport run costs us about 70 EURO. We will ask you to make a contribution towards this cost.

If you are being collected. Please go to the "Bull and naked lady statue" outside of arrivals at terminal one. All 3 terminals are in the same building.

The collection vehicle is likely to be our 4WD people carrier a Mitsubishi, Delicia.

GPS downloads

If you have a GPS we will download the track for you and overlay it on a map using SEEYOU and CompeGPS. There will be no charge for this service.


Internet Access

It is our plan to provide "always-on" Internet access at the Flight Park late in 2003. This will be available to members at a reasonable cost.

BHPA aerotow conversion ratings

Tow conversions are run in the early mornings and late evenings.
There will be a small charge of 100 € for this. Included will be 10 tows, to be taken over a two-day period.

These courses will be run at a loss to the club to encourage more pilots to get into aerotowing. Lets hope we don’ t get swamped!


XC Guidance

XC guidance can be provided. In July we will have a tandem glider to demonstrate the practical aspect of soaring flight one to one. 

We will also host master-class courses run by a "Sky God." If you would like this service please email:  mark@aerotow.com and see the events page. Courses will be made available based on demand.

Day-to-day advice by onsite club members will be provided free of charge. A BHPA Senior Aerotow Coach will always be available.


Booking

Accommodation is limited so we advise sending a 150€ deposit to secure your booking. Any deposit will be refunded (less a 20€ administration fee) if a cancellation is made 60 days prior to original arrival date. After that date the deposit will only be refunded (less 20€) if the accommodation you have booked can be re-let to another club member for the period that you originally reserved. The closer you get to the start date the harder this will be for us to do. The bottom line is we don't want to take your money if you find you can't make it, but we don't want the club to be out of pocket either.
